Venue Spaces at Abilene Heritage Square

The Square has three distinct buildings. Within the main building is the NEW Abilene Public Library Main Branch, as well as lease spaces and the Stone Owl Institute. The Library occupies parts of all three floors. The first floor includes adult fiction, local history, a teen space, study rooms, a podcast/recording studio, and a Maker space. The second floor houses spaces for children and families as well as the children’s collection. The third floor features group study rooms, the adult nonfiction collection, and reference materials.

Within the Academic side of the building is the newly refurbished historic auditorium, Owen Hall. Located in the heart of the campus, Owen Hall provides a center stage for performances, presentations, educational programs, weddings, and other opportunities to the community and beyond. With state-of-the-art audio, visual, and lighting systems, our auditorium is capable of bringing big time productions to Abilene. Connected to the auditorium on the second floor are two VIP Homerooms – perfectly decorated to serve as Bride and Groom rooms for wedding ceremonies, or as meeting rooms for small groups. And adjacent to the Owen Hall balcony is a beautiful Reception area overlooking Grape Street.

Our other large event space is the Heritage Event Center. Formerly known as the Eagles Nest, this historic gymnasium will serve as a special events center capable of hosting a variety of functions including proms, quinceañeras, receptions, reunions, conferences, and more. The Event Center is outfitted with a full catering prep kitchen, a historical ticket booth reception, second level bleacher seating, and full audio/visual projection screens.

Additional venue spaces include the Owl’s Courtyard in between the Academic building and Heritage Event Center, the Stone Owl classroom on the third floor of the Academic building, the Campus Green (North and West), the Spark Science Center classroom, and two outdoor pods in Innovation Park.
